Africa Project: Sustainable Communities

We are looking for people passionate to help donate to a project we began in collaboration with Moi Moi Market and their first children’s book, Little Gray’s Altruistic Adventure.

Kelsey Waliszewski and Kerri Wolcott, advisor to the board and founder of the Wolcott Foundation, have a deep passion to help people around the world get back on their feet post pandemic. After traveling to Africa in June 2021, it’s with a heavy heart Kelsey shares that more people are dying due to starvation than by the virus. Talk about trauma!

Through fundraising, collaboration, and seeking global investment opportunities, For Children to Flourish is fundraising for a project to help many people regain a dignified life and heal from circumstantial trauma. Post pandemic, families are struggling due to the loss of jobs, homes, food, and other basic needs. Vulnerability breeds desperation and desperation breeds exploitation. We work to bring dignity back to a child’s life by helping the family holistically. We work with NGOs and non-profits to enhance the work they are doing abroad. Our job is to partner the local community to their natural resources to help slow down PTSD and trauma, and to spark new dreams and passions that would overall contribute to a flourishing community. When kids are exposed to new experiences, dreams ignite, and economies stabilize. We plan to do work in Tahiti 2024 and Uganda/Kenya 2025.

“By focusing on the health of the family, we are ultimately helping a child flourish. It is difficult for children to thrive without a healthy mom and dad”. states Kelsey. Through local social enterprises, For Children to Flourish is excited to be partnering with community leaders to support sustainable businesses that holistically help families. “Many people are exploited or forced into bad circumstances due to economic hardship beyond their control. If we can come into a community and partner with healthy local leadership to enhance the good work they are doing, then that’s a world-wide win.” Kelsey continues, “Our work in Maui has taught us the importance of 1) helping people stop and change their perspective 2) cultivate opportunities of joy to help begin the rewiring of the brain after trauma and 3) lead people on a journey where they can fall in love with the nature that surrounds which cultivates a need for other oriented mindsets. If we can help support hard working social enterprises, enhance what they can do and offer new and unique opportunities to the families they work with, it truly will accelerate a healthier and flourishing community and economy.”
