For Children to Flourish Projects

  • Access For All Program

    Big Island

It’s simple. We provide free boat trips to our local kids. When we connect kids and their support systems to the beauty of nature: hope can be found, dreams can ignite, and even healing can begin. Our goal is to meet one or more of these three objectives during our 2-4 hour trips.

    1) O.C.E.A.N. Course (Outgoing Curiousity Experiences Around Nature) How we relate to ourselves and the world around us

    2) Science Education (influenced by the Coral Reef Education Institute)

    3) Respite and Therapy (inspired by help and conversations with Kipuka Ho’ola)

This beautiful experience can help kids develop an awareness of themselves and others, encourage an appreciation for our ocean and life within, and learn skills to help them overcome hard things.

  • Maui Resilency Project

    Maui

Maui/Lahaina Resiliency Program. Our plan is to empower locals in Maui to use their maritime resources to give back to those who have been impacted by the devastating Lahaina fires. Since November 18, we have received funding to take out 360 kids and their families who lost everything in the fire. We couldn’t do this without the beautiful partnership with Trilogy Sail. We also work with Kipuka Ho’ola as they have helped coordinate therapists to come on board to be available for kids and their families.

  • Leadership Development

    Happened May 2024. Next Spring/Summer of 2025

50% off island kids 50% from Hawaii

We are so excited to begin our leadership development camp. A collaborative effort with Pacific Connections and other local and global non-profits. Our goal is to raise up future and well equipped leaders trained specifically to ask better questions and become better listeners. The ocean and boats are the tools we will use to navigate these conversations in a beautiful, fun, inspiring and safe way. The ocean is a great training ground to help develop the foundation of a curious spirit.

2024 Kids in 2024

Because of your generosity and support, we’ve completed our first round of 100% free ocean adventures for local children, families and those working for and with the next generation. It was our mission to respectfully utilize the Hawaiian oceanic resources to teach/inspire sustainability and positive character development while encouraging kids or those that work with kids in their dreams and life goals. The joy is to see the smiles on many who have never experienced being out on a boat, yet have been on Big Island for many years. We witnessed trepidation turned to bravery. Several times the kids burst into songs of gratitude for their day, their island, their culture and this opportunity. Our goal is to take out 2024 kids in 2024, but we need your help to achieve this goal. To give a kid a day of fun, support, and resources costs $150.

December of 2022- For Children to Flourish hosted the first Flotilla, taking out 43 kids from Puna and their mentors using five Big Island boats: Adventure X Boat Tours, Captain Chads, Pua Ilima Sailing, and Da Whale Boat. We provided 20 hours of employment and 10 hours were donated by the Adventure X Boat tours staff. Many of these kids hadn’t even been to the west side of the Big Island. It was an honor and a privilege to serve these kids, reaffirm they are loved, and to encourage them in their dreams while exposing them to dolphins, fish, and coral reef. We’ve been told, a year later, this trip is still talked about and some now even want to have a career in the maritime world. December 9, 2023, took out 48 kids in a Flotilla out of the South Kawaihae Boat Ramp. Mahalo to Adventure X Boat Tours, Kohala Divers, Pua ka Ilima, Da Whale Boat and Hawaii Boat Clubs.

Future Vision

Captain Kelsey and team have a heart to help strengthen and encourage kids all over the world by connecting them to their own natural resources in a fun and safe way. When pure joy can be experienced, hope can be found and healing can begin. When kids can live healthy lives, they become healthy members of their community: better parents, dependable employees, great leaders, and faithful friends
